The Blue sisters have always been exceptional – and exceptionally different.

Avery, a strait-laced lawyer living in London, is the typical eldest daughter, though she’s hiding a secret that could undo her perfect life forever.

Bonnie was a boxer but, following a devastating defeat, she's been working as a bouncer in LA – until a reckless act one night threatens to drive her out of the city.

And Lucky, the rebellious youngest, is a model in Paris whose hard-partying ways are finally catching up with her.

Then there was Nicky, the beloved fourth sister, whose unexpected death left Avery, Bonnie and Lucky reeling.

When, a year later, the three of them must reunite in New York to stop the sale of their childhood home, they find that it's only by returning to each other that they can navigate their grief, addiction and heartbreak and learn to fall in love with life again.

Critic reviews

'The story of Avery, Bonnie, Nicky and Lucky is a healing balm to lost souls. Blue Sisters will unearth tenderness and heartache from spectacular depths within you, giving new dimensions to the word blue.' Xochitl Gonzalez, author of Olga Dies Dreaming

'I never imagined a novel about grief could leave me feeling so warm. Coco Mellors has crafted a richly textured tale of love, loss, and addiction in all its complexities. When I made it to the final page, I had tears in my eyes. I will be thinking about the Blue sisters for a long time.' Isabel Kaplan author of NSFW

Really struggled with narration , very monotone except when vocalising conversation .
Will buy a hard copy and read it myself

The story was good the narration not

This is a must. I’m writing this after a second listen. It hit the spot just as hard if not more. The story woven between the sisters is compelling and beautifully told. The narrator impeccable. It’s a book to absorb

I listened to this on audio. I struggled with it at first until getting to know the four sisters. Avery from drug addiction to law school and becoming a wife. Bonnie, world class athlete until deciding to quit. Nicky, the one that passed away, aged 27 the girly girl of the sisters. Lucky the baby sister, model, secretly shy.

Each chapter is an individual sister. If you like long chapters then this is for you. If you get lost in long chapters I probably wouldn’t recommend.

All the sisters become lost. ‘Never too late to be found’.

I enjoyed learning about their individual roles, upbringing and so much more with what life chucks at you. Intimate relationships the want to be with someone who is guiding you in assisting in life. LGBTQ+. The book covers pain, addiction, grief and so much more. It’s enjoyable that you see the sisters coming closer together. I did struggle to connect with the emotion. It wasn’t my usual style of read to listen to but I’m glad overall I persevered with it. I don’t think I would read anything else by this author though. It just wasn’t my kind of thing.

Beautiful exploration of sibling relationships and human characteristics and addictions. I loved this - every emotion drawn out of me. Thank you Coco Mellors x

Captivating storytelling

It was a decent story. One of the things I love about Audible is that I get to listen to books that I wouldn’t normally have read - this was one of those. It was a nice story and I love the family elements but I did get a little bored towards the end.

What stood out the most was the narrating. It was too dramatic. I heard every breath before every sentence and the raised inflection at the end of each line was a little jarring. After listening for a while you get used to it but I wouldn’t intentionally choose another story with this narrator, which is probably a shame.

Distracting Narration

The story stood up to the hype! Coco did not disappoint, i highly recommend. However, it was only the hype that kept me listening, i have listened to hundreds of books and the narration was so monotonous I struggled from the very start.

Read this! Definitely read this!!!

Brilliant storytelling. Tightly drawn characters.Wonderful use of language. A creative triumph. One if the best books I've read in a long time.

Outstanding writing.

Really brilliant narrator. Heartbreaking and hard going in places like Cleopatra & Frankenstein but more redemption for the characters which you hope for.

Excellent

I loved every moment of this. The characters were so beautifully developed and I connected to them all in their own ways. The ending… just a stunning novel.

Stunning

I really loved it, and after finishing it over a month ago, still think about it a lot. The dynamics between the sisters is truthful but lovely to listen to and relate to.

Loved this
