About this listen

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff - you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out - for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the listener's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter - the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent - as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why you need this book (You know why)
  • Your unique home
  • Decluttering in the midst of real life
  • Change your mind, change your home
  • Breaking through your decluttering delusions
  • Working it out room by room
  • Helping others declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

Fun to listen to, but more importantly it works!

Read by the author in a very listenable, funny but most importantly helpful voice of experience, this contains concepts that really work to help you start improvement by your life - painlessly!

Having acquired a goodly stash of 'decluttering' books, some by famous and widely-acclaimed authors, I was beginning to wonder if I was a hopeless case. Having listened to Dana's simple but profound insights and gentle logic based rules I can now see that the reason the other books failed was that they were too complex, required massively ambitious projects I could never finish - in some cases not even really start - required imagination and visualisation skills I don't have and space to sort stuff out in, which I also don't have. In fact the other books made the problem worse, not better because I'd invariably get stuck half-day through Dana's system is so simple there is no way to get stuck and one simple rule that absolutely stops you churning, creating new piles or making a bigger mess while you declutter.

Those other books are on their way (finally) out of the door and I have stopped feeling like failure. I haven't finished, in fact I have only just started but already there is so much difference in my life and so much more space in my rooms. They are becoming places to live in, and thrive rather than dread spaces filled with misery-making boxes, clutter and junk.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you need your life back from the stuff that's taking (or has taken) it over - start here!

Excellent!

As a second hand shop 'addict" this book has been a saviour!! I've picked up many decluttering books in my time but never has one resonated with me like this. or made as much sense!! proper eye opening moments through the book and I've genuinely been excited to discover the reasons behind WHY I've got the clutter in the first place. it's just brilliant and by the end I'd already gone and bought Dana's other book! Thank you so much xx

I laughed out loud and I got teary

I felt met and seen by this audiobook. Where has this book been all my life? I've watched the Marie Kondo shows and the organizing people on YouTube but it never moved ME into what I needed. All my issues are dissected and explained in a professional way in this book. It's funny how this subject can be adressed without making me feel ashamed and out of integrity. I took my phone around my apt. with me, It activated something in me that made it partially fun to get rid of stuff. It made me laugh and cry and because it is so spot from true experience with clutter it is truly helpful. Spoken with wisdom, humor and respect.

Useful and entertaining

I was surprised to like this book. Turns out, single people in a one-bed flat in London can benefit from the points made here. And you really do learn the steps by listening to the whole book. The author has a great sense of humour and I really related to her.

Brilliant

More concise than the podcast and totally inspiring - I started decluttering straight away in fact actually less than two chapters in
