About this listen

Mortui vivos docent. The dead teach the living.

After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me.

Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores.

And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Devryck Bramwell, known on campus as Doctor Death, is a brilliant pathologist in charge of the midnight lab. He's also my devastatingly handsome professor, who seems to loathe tenacious first-years like me. Except his dark and enigmatic gaze tells me all the ways he'd devour me if given the chance, and his stolen kisses burn my lips with forbidden jealousy.

I crave his authority.

He aches for redemption.

Together, we're toxic. Delicious fodder for the prying eyes hellbent on exhuming the rotted skeletons of our pasts.

For the dead have much to teach, and it's only a matter of time before Dracadia's most depraved secret is resurrected.

Nocticadia is a standalone dark academia tale of deadly secrets and forbidden love.

Um excuse me how has this book been out since 2023 and I’ve only been recommended it now?
It had me absolutely enthralled! The writing was fantastic so I could really envisage everything described and the plot had me squirming, gasping, eyes bulging, laughing and just utterly entertained!
If you haven’t read this yet then you are in for a treat!

Absolutely fantastic!

The duel narration was perfect and the narrators really got me hooked to the characters and story. Bit annoying that the chapter numbers of the book don’t match the chapter numbers of the audiobook

Duel narration at its best

The plot is deliciously dark, and brooding. The voice actors do a superb job of bringing the characters to life. And Keri Lake is a low key genius.
Listening to this has immediately added her other stuff to my tbr pile.

Excellent voice acting

I thoroughly enjoyed the narration of this audiobook; really, really made it come to life. The story is dark but also delectable. Very clever and seductive and draws you in. It works so well as a stand along and I'm excited to listen to more by this author.

If I told you that this book was about black parasitical worms, a morally grey hot teacher, and a secret society, in a beautiful setting on Maine USA you would probably raise an eyebrow. I have to say the author sure knows how to write a great book. The spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️😎- I had to pull over in my car 🫣. Anyway. Anyone with an SA triggers needs to be aware, as there are some dark but so needed moments in the book, and also there is not going to be a sequel apparently! Just bare that in mind at the end 🙀

Well Prof. Bramwell! 😍
