About this listen

Ghosts don't exist in our world of today. Life is too pragmatic, too consuming, too busy for past lives to linger on longer than their allotted time, or so Halcyon had believed, until she received a letter from a lawyer claiming that her mother, whom she had thought long dead, had actually been living in another part of the country since Halcyon's early childhood. She had only recently passed away, leaving Halcyon heir to an unexpected fortune and an estate on an isolated island in the middle of the Great Lakes.

Setting out to find some answers, Halcyon travels to her mother's home. But will she be prepared for the ghastly family history that waits for her there, the visions and revelations that will change everything that she thought she knew about the father she lived with and the mother she'd lost long ago?

“Captivating and haunting, this debut proves Wendy Webb is a very gifted storyteller.” (M. J. Rose, author of The Memorist)

I really enjoyed listening to this. The story is hauntingly good and the narrator read it beautifully. I will definitely look for other books written by Wendy Webb and performed by Cassandra Campbell.
Take no heed of the bad reviews and try it for yourself as I did, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I enjoyed listening to this. Obviously it is far fetched but it’s a ghost story after all.

Good old fashioned ghost story

Strange story & I wanted to give the main character a bit of a shake in a couple of places. The "whyever did you do that" kind of shake. A few twists in the plot. A pretty good, not great, listen.

Oddly enjoyable

For a freebie I absolutely loved this! Couldn’t stop listening once I’d started. And the narration was excellent.
Lots of twists and turns and really did keep me guessing until the end!.

I had to speed up the narration, as way too slow for me. Also, I know some English people that will dislike her English accent, I’ve heard worse on here tbh.
The story isn’t scary, if that’s what you’re looking for, and has a fat dollop of romance.
Great for free, I wouldn’t pay for it though.

Ok

Enjoyable fable

Loved the story, just didn't like the narrator's voice impressions of the different characters. Story was compelling enough to endure the strange accents though. Really enjoyed it.

Great story, shame about the narrator
