About this listen

D.I. Lomond is a devoted family man. A good detective. When the body of a young woman involved in the worlds of art and adult streaming is found in the River Clyde, Lomond believes there may be echoes of a cold case from the start of his career: an unsolved death on a rural Scottish estate in the 1990s.

Then, a Swedish feminist activist, who also has a connection to Lomond's past, arrives in the city to protest against the failure of the police to find the killer. The victims all seem to be drawn from the world of art and business. Is the cold case the answer, or just part of the key, and could the killer be about to get dangerously close to Lomond and his family?

good story. startling overview of the possibilities of how the modern social media world and ability to abuse people using it, regardless of warnings to young women particularly. would make a good TV series

internet is a scary place

Excellent characters, excellent performance, very engaging. Hardly cosy crime but with enough social and psychological texture to compete with it.

More from Pat Black please!

I found this by searching for other work narrated by the always amazing David Monteath, and I'm so glad I did - it's excellent!! Incredibly well written, with each chapter further developing the plot.
I'm writing this review in the early hours of the morning, because I have stayed up to hear the end of the book - too invested to sleep without knowing how it ends! The hallmark of a gripping book! 😊
Brilliant writing and the stellar narration skills of David Monteath have made for a gripping novel.
I listen to a huge number of Police Procedurals, I particularly enjoy ones set in Scotland. This book is every bit as good as the books written by the big names of Scottish crime novels.
I really hope that this is going to be the start of a new series of books. I won't hesitate to buy and listen to the future books.

Absolutely Excellent start to a new series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love pretty much anything Scottish based read by Angus King, this is exception. Definitely worth a listen.

Too much inconsequential content AKA padding. I tried. I really tried but it didn’t keep my interest. The narrator did his best but couldn’t breathe life into this poor story.

Tedious. Long winded. Boring.
